Joining the Academy

The American Academy of Psychoanalysis and Dynamic Psychiatry is a national psychiatric association founded to provide an open forum for our members to discuss relevant and responsible views of motivation for human behavior and to exchange ideas with other social and behavioral scientists.

Members of the American Academy of Psychoanalysis and Dynamic Psychiatry (AAPDP) can now take advantage of a special offer jointly offered by the AAPDP and the American Psychiatric Association (APA). This unique membership opportunity is exclusive for AAPDP members who are not currently enrolled in the APA membership (and have not been since December 31, 2009). The Joint Membership Campaign allows a one-time only APA membership discount to psychiatrists joining the APA as a General Member. In addition to the dues discount, the member will also receive a one-time $25 discount in AAPDP dues and a 50% discount on one AAPI book (discount not to exceed $100). Dues and Donations

Members of the Academy can pay their dues online. Members may also contribute to the Academy’s General Fund or to the AAPDP for the following campaigns.

•The ACPEinc is an accrediting agency for psychoanalytic institutes and training programs. The ACPE standards are very compatible with the philosophy and practice of this Academy. Having accredited institutes and programs is the first step in a process that will lead to subspecialty certification in psychoanalysis. Your contribution will help the ACPE attain recognition by the US Secretary of Education.
•The Psychiatric Resident Education Fund supports mentorship of psychiatric residents interested in pursuing psychodynamic psychotherapy in several ways - by holding special workshops/luncheons for residents only, providing traveling stipends, and recognizing talent with a best paper by a resident award at our annual meetings.
