Membership Categories

Psychoanalytic Fellow

Physicians who have graduated from a recognized psychoanalytic institute or have had fully equivalent training may apply for membership in this category.

Psychiatric Fellow

Psychiatrists who meet the criteria for Psychiatric Member, but have also made significant contributions to the field and/or to the Academy may apply for membership in this category.

Psychiatric Member

Psychiatric Member Psychiatrists with a demonstrated interest in psychoanalysis and dynamic psychotherapy may apply for admission as Psychiatric Members. Members in this category have full membership privileges.

Psychiatric Associate

This is a category of membership designed to broaden the Academy’s exchange with other members of the psychiatric community. It is open to psychiatrists who have significant interest in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic concepts.

Medical Student

A Medical student enrolled in a US or Canadian medical school, pursuing an M.D. or D.O. degree, or a student enrolled in a medical school in another country recognized by the World Health Organization for the granting of such degrees, with an interest in psychoanalysis and dynamic psychiatry.

Scientific Associate

This is an invited category for distinguished physicians and other scientists and scholars who are active in psychiatric education or researcher in other branches of science.
